This is a 1 profile player, but for a secondary unit I don t care. As long as it plays the movie I m not going to complain, not at that price. I m thinking about picking up a few of these as Christmas presents for people who I know don t have blu-ray players. clinton on August 13th, 2009 3:53 pm I got one too. Everything is great, but the 1080p option is kind of shottie. Of course I dont know if my TV supports 1080p, might only be 1080i, It was a gift last year. The manuscript says that switching to that may cause temporary distortion, but past a minute? Honestly, I watch it in 1080i and I see no difference between 1080i and 1080p and yes I know one is progressive scan for viewing quick cameras moving and the interlaced is not better. Maybe it is just so minute. Mike on August 22nd, 2009 8:33 pm I just got one of these tonight from my local WalMart. It was 00 and I got a 1 year extended warranty for 88 ksherry on April 8th, 2010 9:32 pm I m glad to hear nothing negative about this blue ray player. I work at a walmart in the cincinnati area and we just rolled them back to 78 dollars! hopefully there is some left when i get to work tomorrow Mike on April 12th, 2010 2:52 pm I m at a walmart here in Colton, ca and there is a magnavox blue-Ray DVD player model nb530mgx and it sells for 78 dollars Feel free to leave a you have not commented before, your comment will be held for moderation. and oh, if you want an Avatar to show with your comment, go get a gravatar! What will happen to the PS3? Will they continue to use blu-ray as the format for game discs or will they start releasing kits and switch over to HD-DVD? What will happen to the PS3? Will they continue to use blu-ray as the format for game discs or will they start releasing kits and switch over to HD-DVD? Hard Gay has come to troll the AOD boards? /img In all honesty, I think BR will dominate the video game market while HD-DVD dominates the movie market. Currently Watching: Dragonball Kai, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Dairugger XV, Victory Gundam, G Gundam In all honesty, I think BR will dominate the video game market while HD-DVD dominates the movie market. Agreed. Hell, I dont think that many people will want to move on from DVDs just yet. While I could see myself owning one if it made anime look THAT MUCH better, I just dont see myself buying all of my collection again at 40 dollars a pop just for a better picture. Actually Im counting on both Blu-Ray and HDDVD succeeding. Then I can find all the old anime dvds for sale in the dollar bin at Big Lots. /img Hey, a guy can dream cant he? Ill share that dream with you Sugei. Although anime probably wont make the jump for a whilehaving a large percentage of anime on either one so you might have to hold off on bargain bin surfing. Im hoping for the same thing with old PS2 games and the PS Location: Wolverine Lake, MI In all honesty, I think BR will dominate the video game market while HD-DVD dominates the movie market. Agreed. Hell, I dont think that many people will want to move on from DVDs just yet. While I could see myself owning one if it made anime look THAT MUCH better, I just dont see myself buying all of my collection again at 40 dollars a pop just for a better picture. I wouldnt pay 40 for any movie no matter what the picture looked like. I like discussing the issue so Im going to explain it anyway, whether or not that pleases the troll. /img It looks like see front page HD-DVD is already failing for anime at least, in Japan. I expect it to follow suit in the US where it currently appears to lead over Blu-ray not surprisingly, since Blu-ray players werent subsidised and cost twice as much, while the initial discs were of poor quality. HD-DVD is going down, and its only a matter of time. After an initial stutter due to encoders, and the format in general, frankly being not ready for release, Blu-ray discs will look identical to HD-DVD discs. Its a shame they wont look better which they technically could, but wont but when a title is released on both formats it will look identical. Given that, its a simple question: which format will have four million or so installed players in the next few months, continually rising to ten million or more by the end of next year? And which one wont? End story.
