Samsung BDP1600 slow at everything, Panasonic DMP BD60 two of them; updates made the home screen green on both players, LG BD390 also two of them; both did not work with my wireless router Apple Airport Extreme Base Station Dual-Band. As you can see, I have plenty of experience with quite a few different bluray players, and logged too much customer service time over the phone. The Sony BDN460 has been my savior. It worked, period. My only MINOR gripe is that the Netflix loading time is not as quickly as it should be, ideally I have it connected directly to the Extreme Base station via ethernet. After all my troubles, the Sony BDN460 is a great bluray player. And I can truly vouch for that statement. I was given a Sony BDP-N360 for Christmas but wanted the N460 model after reading poor reviews on the N360 on. The N360 does not have NetFlix connectivity. Purchased this Sony BDP-N460 after reading great reviews on. I wasn t disappointed. Purchased it using Amazon s Free Super Saver Shipping and it arrived in 3 days. The player hooked up with ease and had a great picture. During setup, I chose the quick start mode and it does just that. I purchased the Linksys Wireless Bridge as suggested by Sony in order to use the BD-Live internet functions. It took me about 10 minutes to set it up using Sony s built in software to connect. One problem I did have is I purchased 2 SanDisk USB flash drives to use rubber johnny chris cunningham the unit. One for the back USB port for internet content must have this to use BD-Live and one for the front USB port to view photos. Neither worked with the unit. I emailed Sony who told me it is recommended to use a Sony flash drive. I thought this was a trick just to get you to buy their products only, but they were right. I purchased a Sony USB flash drive at Frys Electronics they are hard to find, Best Buy does not carry Sony USB flash drives and it worked great. Once the BD-Live was working, I got a message that a firmware update was available and it started downloading it which only took a few minutes. You can download photos on the USB drive or burn them on a CD-R and view them in High Def. Resolution is awesome. I found that the USB drive uploads the photos faster than reading them from a CD-R. I highly recommend this unit. Since writting this review, I had a problem with the player. One week after writting this, half way through watching District 9, the screen changed to an all green tint. When I stopped the player and went back to the HOME screen, the screen was green instead of its normal blue and the white icons had turned to rainbow colors. I did troubleshooting using Sony s online chat support. After unplugging the player and restarting, the screen went white with rainbow icons. Sony told me to ship the product to their service center and they would ship me out a new, unused one. A couple weeks later, I received the new player and Sony included a high speed HDMI cable with this one. So far, the player is working fine. Thanks Sony! After having the other unit replaced using Sony s warranty exchange service, now another problem has occured just 6 months after the first problem. No picture. I turned my Sony BDP-N460 player on and no picture at all. TV screen is reading Searching For Signals. I troubleshooted with Sony s Tech service. Now I have to send this one in.
